Hello! I'm Jennifer (best known as Jen) and I'm the Founder of The Cat Companion. For as long as I can remember I have always had a deep love for animals. Throughout my childhood I was lucky enough to grow up around a lot of family pets. We had the common household pets (gerbils, hamsters, rats, rabbits, dogs and cats etc) but we also had more unusual ones, like tropical fish, tortoises and stick insects.

I went to the University of Greenwich to study an Animal Science degree. After graduating 4 years later, having been back and forth to South Africa to research elephant behaviour, I moved to South Africa to pursue my dream of being a Safari Guide/Game Ranger. I trained vigourously for 6 months and then worked as a qualified (FGASA) Safari Guide/Game Ranger in South Africa for a couple of years before returning to England.

I own 3 cats of my own (Phoebe, Oscar and Theo) and I am not ashamed to say that I am very much obsessed with them. I know first hand how daunting it can be when you go on holiday or are away from home and you have to leave your cat(s). I wanted to create a business that would allow for cat owners to have that all important peace of mind that their cat was going to be well cared for. I pride myself in showing as much love to other people's cats as I would if they were mine.

The long term goal is to study Feline Behaviour as a form of higher education and work as a Feline Behaviourist alongside cat sitting/visits.
